REFLECT: Is there a more potent three letter prefix in the English language than ‘dis’? Respect becomes disrespect. Ability becomes disability. Grace becomes disgrace. Ease becomes disease.

Or take the word, “appointment." Appointments represent how we would like life to go. They are the circles on the calendar or events on our computer screen.

A DISappointment, on the other hand, is a missed appointment -- plans that fell through. We wanted health, we got sick. We wanted family, we got divorce. We wanted a promotion, we got let go. Life is filled with disappointments, but for the believer this is not end of story.

Philippians 1:6 says, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

In other words, God has a plan for your life to do a good work even when you can’t see it. Do you think you could look at disappointment this way? If so, even let-downs can be His appointments when we entrust our lives to His good work.
