READ: Psalm 23:5-6

REFLECT:

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
( Psalm 23:5-6 NIV)

The Lord can fill us with peace even when we have every reason to be terrified and confused. I once read a story of a man who was caring for his dying mother. One morning he was both heartbroken and relieved to find that his mother had passed away during the night. The man noticed his mother’s open Bible on the nightstand beside the bed. Her Bible was left open to Psalm 23. Next to the passage she had written, “The secret to a happy life, a happy death, and a happy eternity.” With Jesus Christ as our shepherd we always have hope.
